Zoysia
Buddy of mine in AL has it and loves it. He killed all his fescue one fall and planted zoysia, which is much more drought and disease resistant. I'm seriously considering doing the same because I've had it with the fescue hamster wheel.
old thread but yes, we had zoysia for years growing up. that stuff beats the heck out of bermuda. the cheap way to go is to plug your lawn with 2"x2" squares a few feet apart. We plugged my childhood home and it overwhelmed the fescue in 2 summers. amazingly soft and hearty grass.
