Tires should last about the same, obviously you will run less camber with the smaller setup, but camber doesn't wear tires like toe does. So get an alignment and you will be okay with either.

travel on a good coilover is minimal, barely any at all when the damper is set to full stiff, where as travel on a spring could be inches!
