Default Audio Set ups, recommendations

Hello Everyone! Not really sure on what route to take on this, I am not electronically inclined and need input. The only goals I have are better overall sound and range. I am looking for Upgraded door speakers, amp and if I can not run an amp off the stock head unit, a new head unit. Not really concerned on price but overall sound quality is a must. I just bought some Dyna-mat and will be installing soon but not sure where to go from there. Also if someone could recommend a shop to do the work that would be awesome, I am also open to paying someone on here to do the work that comes recommended. Thanks ahead for the responses.

You shoulda said something when u were over. Among all the parts is a set of Focal 165 K2P speakers.

Anyway. The basic recipe is remove the stock head unit, and speakers. Replace with;
1. Alpine head unit, buy based on features u want
2. Really good speakers that can tolerate volume, or they'll be drown out with the top down. You must hear the speakers, everyone's taste and how a speaker effects their ear, is personal preference.
3. Amp. Some mount in trunk. I proved you can actually put an Alpine PDX 4x150 under the drivers seat. Though it slightly limits forward travel
4. Sub in the trunk. This is a maybe. It sounds better, but takes up some space. You have to be comfortable with the trade off

What was your setup? Anything you would have done different?

Century 2000 in Akron did a full bose system in my dads 89 carrera. Upgraded numerous systems for our daily drivers and has done many of our radar detector hard installs.
Great company and knowledgable people.

I agree too. The S is relatively easy to get to sound decent, just have to buy the right stuff.

The previous owner of my car had a big stereo that he partial removed when selling me the car.

The one item that I did end up keeping were the speakers mounted behind the seats in the vent garnish panel. Any aftermarket radio will support rear speakers and it adds so much volume to the car. I am a fan of saving weight for autocross, but I've determined these speakers are literally "worth their weight" to have a really nice sounding stereo.

So, if you're looking at going with an aftermarket head unit, adding rear speakers isn't hard and its a great idea.
