Autocross'd this weekend
Thought I'd share a video of my first autocross this season. I'm on bald Hancook V12's which are getting replaced this week, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from having fun.
This was at the go kart track in Circleville, Ohio and was put on the the Buckeye Miata Club.

Damn wish I had known about this - any other events coming up? I have been wanting to try and make it to an SCCA autocross event for a while now... forgot about the other clubs that host their own. So tell us how badly you whipped on those Miatas...
Yep there's at least one every month! I'll try and post the schedule soon. There's a silver AP2 that runs with us as well and he's always 3+ seconds faster then me. Perhaps that's because he's running boxed with 245's on all corners. I'm sure he's a way better driver then me too.
FTD was a miata set up for mid ohio on some A-spec tires. There were two GTR's there and even a Noble that was fun to watch.
Next race is at Circleville Raceway Park again on June 7th!
Here's their facebook group if you'd like more info.

I've ran this track before and it is a blast. There is a little bit of everything and elevation changes too. Seems like they stop you before the last turn though, I've had fast laps on that track and ran the full circuit, it is pure fun in the s2000
I would have loved to push it harder but like InitialDougie said that back straight......man if you lose it you're going off into a moat you'll probably have to be towed out of....haha
As far as tires. The fronts are still the stock ones from the factory and dry rotted to hell. The rears were Hancook V12s. Good tires. Bang for the buck I can't complain, but I like to try different things. I just ordered some Bridgestone S-04 Pole Positions. They seemed to get a good rating. I would have liked to get stickier tires but I drive the hell out of the car so I wanted something that could take a lot of miles too. All the way around I got them for less then $700 so we'll see how they pan out at the next autocross!
