Default diminished value

Has anyone had any luck with filing a claim for diminished value following a car accident that wasn't your fault? Just looking for a little insight on what a fair settlement would be.

I was rear ended not too long ago in my 2008 Evo (cash value for insurance purposes of $27k), resulting in $3k in repairs. I asked for diminished value, and the initial offer from the insurance company is $1200.

I know that diminished value is not widely available in Ohio, so I don't know if I should be happy with the $1200 or if I should push for more.

Any thoughts?

How much do you feel the accident reduced the resale value of your car?

Take it and be happy or you could fight for a long time. 3K in damage is nothing now a days.

I got them to go $1,600 and I'm happy with that. Frankly, I was happy they even entertained the claim and offered me anything for diminished value.

For something like an Evo or an S2000, I would certainly be less interested in one that didn't have a clean carfax, and would probably steer clear altogether. At the very least, I would discriminate against it and expect some reduction in price to offset the risk of the unknown.
