DOOD, put down a $4,500 payment on a 1 Series, then pay $125 per month on a lease for 67 months. MOd the crap out of it and drive it over the miles.....then buy it, sell it then get a Lambo in 6 years.

I agree - if you don't plan to keep the S after the lease then keep the civic.

If you plan to keep the S then the HT and winter rubber is a good investment, and selling the civic to fund that would make some sense.

Are you ready to live with the S as a DD though?

I've done it - happily, for a few years now. No regrets here.

I'd disagree: if you plan to keep the S2000, keep the Civic and don't drive the S in the winter salt; you actually care if it eventually rusts apart or not.

If you're planning on turning the S2000 in at the end of the lease, get some winter rubber and drive it all winter. You don't care if it rusts apart a few years after you turn it in.

However, keep in mind that this advice is from a cheap bastard who has a '94 Integra and a '00 S2000. Guess what I drive when there is salt on the roads?

My S2000 hasn't "rusted apart" after 6 winters as my DD, and well it shouldn't since it meets the same corrosion requirements as any other Honda.

I wish I could see 3yrs into the future and spy what exciting (if any) products Honda had coming

If there is nothing other than hybrids and a 100K+ Acura; then I buy the lease out

I would then keep the car for weekends and sunny weather

If there is an S2000 replacement at or around the same price point and better performance then this would be a year round ride and would be turned in at the end

Damn

6 winters is just the breakin period. I'm talking 2 or 3 times that. Remember, I'm still driving my '94 Integra. (I said earlier I was a cheap bastard.) And it does have rustthroughs in a couple of places.
