Default Engine Break In Recommendation

Good morning.
As most people know, I'll be making another run down to the dragon in a few days. (yes, and this time I'm in the drivers seat. )

I searched through s2000 talk, etc.. and, well, I thought I'd ask for some local advice. I bought the car with 12 miles on it, and now I am at 310miles.

-
Things I've heard. Please tell me which ones you believe I should follow. I'm sure I will have varying information, so please remember that I'm asking for opinions, not trying to start a flame war on proper break-in.

1) Don't vtec/wot past 5500 rpm for the first 600 miles
2) Vary speeds..it shouldn't be all highway miles for the first 600 miles.
3) After 600 miles, get an oil change
4) Use traditional oil, not a synthetic for the first 7500 miles.
5) Even after 600 miles, still take it easy until 1000 miles

Please help. I might be able to crack 600 by Thursday morning (I'll have time to do an oil change by then).

Mocky, When in doubt follow the manual.

Personally, I drove it like normal car for the first 600 miles or so then I slowly introduced the engine to vtec and redline.
I drove it pretty hard right after first 1,000 miles or so. I know people who drove this car without following the break in period procedure and their car is perfectly fine and those who followed the break in period procedure as described in manual and their car is fine as well.

I did all of the above except for #3.

One trip to redline at 600, then:

600-700 miles: no going over 6K RPM, then redline again at 700.
700-800 miles: no going over 7K RPM, then redline again at 800.
800-900 miles: no going over 8K RPM, then redline again at 900.
900-1000 miles: no going over 9K RPM (duh).

How's that for anal?

Overall, I chose to stick with the owners manual.

You better take some time off to get this done - bad weather coming in this week. If you want to drop the car off at my place, I'll try to help!

thank you for the suggestion.

jonas. .when did you get the first oil change? i'm thinking about clearing out the 600 miles before thursday, and doing the change then. probably use the same honda oil (the one that has the Molybednum in it).

after 10k, i'll switch to synthetic... that's my thought... (at least so far).

i'm concerned about oil consumption especially being on the dragon. i'm going to clear 1000 miles by the time i get down there so i can get on it, but i don't know if i should have replaced the oil by then at least once or not..

thanks for everyone's suggestions so far..i appreaciate it

Seems to me that if you're changing the oil with the same 'break-in' oil that supposedly comes in the car, then it can't hurt to change it out early.

Otherwise, leave it in. I changed it at the end of my first season, at about 5K miles.

That's the recommendation, but I wasn't about to store it for 5 months with used oil. If I was to get 7500 miles in the first season, then yes, I would have waited a bit longer.
