Man accused of raping toddler now faces murder charge

John M. White, swollen from a jailhouse beating, shook his head as aggravated murder and rape charges were read against him in his initial court appearance today.
Franklin County Municipal Court Judge Paul M. Herbert set bail at $6.1 million.
White, 27, of 1289 Weybridge Rd., is accused of smothering his girlfriend's 17-month-old while raping the boy.
Prosecutors requested a high bail and said White has confessed to attacking Jaydon Hoberg.
The boy's mother, Billie Hilleary, summoned paramedics to their apartment near Upper Arlington about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday. She said White had told her that he had fallen asleep on the couch with Jaydon and woke up to find the boy with his head in the cushions and not breathing.
Coroner Brad Lewis ruled today the boy died of asphyxiation.
Doctors at Children's Hospital found evidence of a sexual assault and pronounced the child dead. White was arrested on site.
White was jumped by two inmates Wednesday morning and beaten in his cell, jail officials said. He is now in a cell by himself

No, just send him to jail for the rest of his life, death penalty is the easy way out, he can suffer through a lifetime of beatings/ rapes etc when the inmates find out what he did

True, but I'd be surprised if he lasted very long in jail before someone killed him. He was in jail for what, a few days, and he already got his ass beat? I've heard that people committing these types of crimes are the worst off in prison when it comes to getting beat, etc.

His life would probably be short, but he'd deserve every minute of ass kickings he got.
