Need help with classic car restoration
Hey guys been off the boards for a while, but i find many of you to have good general car knowledge. I just bought a one owner Arizona 1970 pontiac catalina coupe. this was my moms first car and my hand me down. I want to get it restored, not frame up, but nice enough to take to shows and drive on sundays. It need some body work, interior and engine overhaul, it burns some oil
I need some contacts for where to get some of this done. thank.s

How much do you want to spend? 20k or 50k. (call Year One for a parts catalog and join the Pontiac registry)I have done a couple of camaros, a 62 vette and participated in the restoration of a 69 MB 190Sl. You need to do alot of the work yourself to save cash. Old GM Iron dissasembles real quick. But here is a quick break down. You can plan on up $100 an hour and an easy 200 hours.
towing between shops 500 bucks
Body 3k to 8k
Interior 1k to 2k
drivetrain 3k to 8k
trim 1k to 3k
electrical 500 to 1500
Chrome 2k
Time going to swap meets PRICELESS
Time going up to the Crawford Auto Museum in Cleveland for reasearch
Time up to the Henry ford Museum for good live photos. I believev they have a Catalina up there.
Suspenssion 1k to 2K
and keep a 5k reserve for the o'shit what did some ideot rig up and hide.

PM me and I can take a look at it. The problem with this car is that there is not much value when completed since it is not a convertible so you will need to do this on the cheap. It;s like restoring a Corvair.

Better off putting in a GM crate motor or one from Jegs.
Chevy,Caddy Northstar,and Buick 3800 only.
Although a 572/720hp would be badass and very impractical
It has the 400 2 bbl. I know that the car has very little value and the less i spend with the restoration the better, unfortunately or fortunately, it is the car i need to do for sentimental reasons
