Default Need Input On Next Mod!

Okay, my fellow Ohio brethern. For some reason, I think I'm sold on Volk LE37Ts in 18" trim for my S2000. I originally wanted Work Meister SR2s, but then they look a little too 'bling' for me. I didn't really like the LE or TE to begin with, but they've really started to grow on me. Of course, my stock 04 wheels look good too (and they might be for sale).

But before I go slapping some dub minus 2s on my car, I want to prevent it from looking like a 4x4. Do I want the Tein Flex coilover setup? Or should I save up for Buddy Club or the uber-pimp Ohlins setup?

My S isn't going to see a lot of track time, so a setup like the Ohlins would be overkill most likely (but so is my Amuse exhaust, so yeah), and I like the Tein brand name, as well as the price on the Flex dampers. I'm aware their dual tube, instead of monotube like the Buddy Clubs. As far as I know, that affects heat dissapation, but the Flex can also be rebuilt in the states for about 100 bucks a damper.

I also like the EDFC that comes with the Flex. A lot of times, I like the stiff ride that the suspension has, but I also know it's a little harsh on certain lady friends that are occassionally in the car. Also, the roads around here aren't that great and I would like to be able to smooth that out for just the commute through town. The adjustability in the cockpit I think is a very usefull feature, and I know that I would be one to use it.

For mild to moderate track use, and some aggressive "street" use, do you think that the Flex is a good way to go, or should I look at a monotube design? Will I notice a difference. Is the damper rates on the Flex enough?

Thanks guys for any input.

i dunno much about the tein flex...i know a bunch of the evo boys are rolling on tein flex. my only suggestion would be, if you're installing springs, why not change shocks as well? i've done a few suspension swaps, and everytime, it's a pain in the butt to take everything off..why not change shocks at the same time you have the springs already off?

as far as the LE37's go, I think that's a great choice and one of my favorite rims on the market. my buddy has them on his '02 Spa and they look I think PaS2knut has them as well.

(hope he doesn't mind me posting a pic of his ride... )

Yeah, those wheels are hot.

I might be dumb, but isn't the Tein Flex a complete replacement? I would have to get new springs too?

the flex is a complete set...I was debating on them also, but I think that I want a set of buddy clubs....i'm running kgmm race right now, my stock shocks will probably last another season so I will probably wait until next year...I have a few other plans for this winter ....Chadwick are coming to the Dragon or Fall Colors?

I've decided that if I don't go with the Tein Flex, I'm going to suck it up and get the Ohlins setup. Thing is, I want a good, trackable setup, even if I don't go all that much. I guess I'm still learning the car (which means I really shouldn't mod anything), but I know when I go, I'm going to be bit by the bug.

Anyways, Mockster, you said some of the Evo boys are running the Flex. Have they had any track or autocross experience with this setup? It seems that everyone who got in on the Evolution group buy haven't installed it yet, or haven't really taken it to the track yet. I keep checking the Racing forum for any hope of someone with that setup, but most of those boys run a fairly stock setup. Any other S2000 reviews I've seen are people who DON'T have the Flex, and immediately diss it for whatever reason, or people who are suffering the placebo effect from just having it installed without much chance to adjust it.

Looking at the spring rates, and the ease of adjustability, it'd be great to have it, and literrally adjust it between runs very simple. I don't know. I don't even know why I just made this long post.

Oh yeah, that's right, have any of the Evo boys you know see track time with the Flex?

hey whats up, nice to see some people like my rims.
I just had the Buddy Clubs installed. So far so good. When its set at 0 it feels close to stock ride but less travel in the strut. I havent tried 16 yet but did try 10 clicks. Its kinda jaw rattling for normal driving. The best part is that my wheels dont scrape the fenders anymore.
The only bad thing is there a biatch to adjust. I guess its the same for any coilover setup.

I hear good thing about the Teins to. Love the EDFC wish it fit my BC's.

It seems like for what your looking for either one of these would be more than enough. No need to spend tons more on the ohlins. Save the cash for other mods.
