Default Rapid Screen Vans

Seeing more and more of these Rapid Screen vans throughout Northeast Ohio.... was wondering... if your car gets checked and you have either a test pipe or high flow cat, is there a possibility that you will fail? I am running an OEM cat right now but was curious...I know a lot of people around here are running TP or HFC.

My friends dad is in charge of the DMV on Graham Rd. in Chyahoga Falls. I'll ask him on Monday what these are all about... I'm nervous though because I have a header-back exhaust w/ a test pipe and I register the car in Stark because of it, although I drive the car 95% of the time in Summit.
Also, they seem to be staying around Cleveland and not in my neck of the woods.

There is one sitting right on the on-ramp by Bishop Road. I drive right by there every morning and he is sitting there. I'm running header, intake, oem cat, and exhaust. I have a TP sititng in my garage that I was planning on putting on the car but if it's going to set this thing off, I'm not running it.

Oh shut up already. I'm sick of your excuses. Put that test pipe on and drive. That car needs to be driven.

There is no penalty for not passing. If you pass the test by the van twice in a 9 month period you don't have to take the echeck test.

What If you drive by and your car is not up to temperature yet? It'll be running richer until the temp comes up. You'd fail.

The odot website says online that only about 5% of vehicles will pass.

I will continue to run my test pipe. And when I see a van in summit county ill be sure to rev it up as I pass them.

I agree with the CO... If I fail I'll just put the cat on for that day and as soon as I get home that puppy is coming off.
Plus, the faster you go past them the more fresh air that will mix with your exhaust.
Not to mention that our cars are pretty new, dont they just do the computer check on ours? I've never e-checked my car yet

Yeah, the will only plug your car in at e-check. They wont run it on the rollers.

My car has passed the echeck test with the test pipe on twice now, and its too low for them to do a visual test on.

The van shoots a laser across the road and tries to analyze what is coming from the exhaust as you drive by. I don't even know how that would work, but I cant see it being very accurate.

So I wouldnt worry about it.

I'm pretty sure that I "drive" my car more than you do.. .and by driving, I don't mean commuting or driving top down at 15mph checking out the scene in downtown Akron

The van was on the side of the road again this morning...

This is the first I'm hearing of this... So, if your vehicle is registered in a county without e-check, but you're driving in a county that does have, you're subject to the van?

Does this thing pull you over? Take a photo of your plate and mail a letter, what?
