Default Rattle in my dash

Hey Yo. Some of you guys have ridden in my S and heard that nasty rattle in my dash. It's not my intake , it's not my exhaust, it's not my mirror, it's not the seat belt. Rich heard it last week and it is in my dash. I do not think it is my stereo stuff. I just read a thread where a dealership took apart the airbag cover and placed insulation in there. The guy said the rattle was gone afterwards. Is this something we could do at Mod Day? The car sounds awesome at v-tec with the Comptech set up, problem is....the rattle covers up that wonderful sound. I will take any suggestions you may have.

That is a hell of a rattle but so hard to track down because of where you need to be in the rpm range. Can you duplicate it by banging on the dash?

1. You can not insulate the airbag cover. It is affixed to the bag.
2. I have the same rattle. It is the vibration from the CAI. The vibration travels through the AC lines to the evaporator core which is near the air bag. I have spent 3 years tracking this rattle. I have place home piping insulation (I have plenty left since I had to buy 8 ft of the stuff) around the AC lines under the intake and this eliminates 85 to 90% of the rattle. I have spoken to Comptech many times and there IS NO FIX FOR THIS.
3. When the top latches get loose, the sound from those travels to the dash and makes the dash sound like it has a rattle.

It is not the CAI. I can not duplicate the rattle. I have to be around 6k RPM.

Do you have to be moving or does it rattle at 6K in neutral sitting still?

"I finally gave up trying to find the rattle in the right side of the dash, so when i took the car in for an oil change today i mentioned the rattle. To my surprise they fixed it! They removed the airbag cover and put some insulation in to stop the rattle. I was skeptical when i got in, but when i drove off to my amazement, the rattle was gone (at least for now). I asked if the insulation would effect the deployment of the airbag and they said "no". Whatever they did - it worked. "

Airbags do not rattle. They gave him some BS. If you were to place something between between the bag and the cover, it would become a projectile when the bag would deploy. No dealer or shop would do this because of liability. I am not saying that you cant get something in there, but airbags do not rattle and I have handled and ignited many of them.
