Default Some questions

Greetings all! I may be taking a job in Columbus so have a few questions about the weather and such in the area.

1) is the S2000 your daily driver?
2) it snows badly during winter right?

My S2000 is my only car (wife has Odyssey) and daily driver, so I'm thinking I'm going to have to sell the car and get something more practical since it snows there. I'm thinking of an Audi A4 because of the AWD.

Thanks!

I moved from Cleveland a year and a half ago to Columbus. Hardly any snow, though lots of ice on my side of town. I was in the snowbelt in Cleveland where we would get lots of snow and I could go 4 wheeling on the streets. My S is just a toy and I have only 600miles on it in 7 months. My daily driver is just front wheel drive and I have had no problems. My wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee has part time and full time 4wd capability, and we used it maybe once this winter since it hardly snowed. You will be amazed on how many SUV's are 2wd here.

You need to be more concerned with Columbus drivers, the first time they see snow, it is like they never drove in it, really annoying.

My In laws live in Cincinnati and the weather seems about the same as in the DC area. A little more humid in the summer and a couple of more snow storms in the winter.

Well this is encouraging. I think I will be keeping my S2000 then and picking up either a cheap beater or snow tires

moonpie-

You will find that OH folks are much friendlier than here. My wife told me how much friendlier people were. Growing up in the DC area, I was not prepared.

I was on my first visit to see my future in-laws. Very, very nice folks. Anyway, we were eating lunch at Dick Clark's restaurant. It's time for a bio break so I head for the bathroom, unzip and cozy up to the urinal. This guy walks in, breaks all men's room etiquette, and parks at the urinal next to me. (Ok, I've got to remember friendly people). He again breaks etiquette and starts taking to me. He asks me "Are you from around here?" I'm thinking, friendly smiendly, as soon as I'm empty, this guys gonna get a knuckle sandwich for lunch. He then goes on to tell me he's from across town and is looking for a theater cause the family wants to see a movie. OK, so now I realize, he's just a mid-westerner asking directions (another break in male etiquette).

i know of a couple people that use them as daily drivers, however, it is nice to have a beater for those rougher winter morning, winters tend to be slushy and overcast. definitely not good if you have seasonal affective disorder. I got into the whole hybrid scene ended up buying a$1000 civic hatch, just as a beater and dropped $6000 in mods but now i have a second car as fast or faster than my s and who cares if i bang it up on the track.

i too lived in DC (Rockville) for a while and you will find that the east coast attitude is not present around here in the service industry. traffic is definitely better, let us know what you end up doing. someone as active as you in the promotion of our cars and website would be a valuable addition to our club.
