Default ? for those in the cincinnati area...

hey guys [and girls],

my girlfriend and i are considering moving to the cincy area this summer...we are still undecided but things are leaning in that direction. i was hoping i might get some helpful info from fellow S2000 owners about the area. of course we are doing internet research but it's always nice to get input from those who live there.

here are some assorted questions...if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated!

1 - are there auto property taxes in ohio / ky? if so, are they pricey?

2 - what about window tint laws in either state?

3 - how is the import scene? between the 2 of use we have an '05 RSX-S, an '04 S2k and an '00 teg. do you guys have meets and get togethers on a regualr basis?

4 - how will the S2k fair in the wintertime? that's why i have the teg too but thought i'd ask? [not much snow too often here in NC/SC]

5 - cost of living seems to be pretty much equal to charlotte, nc {more or less where we live now]. any particularly high taxes in ohio [income tax, sales tax, etc]???

6 - if any of you work in cincy - would you recommend living in OH or KY? is there a benefit to one over the other - or are they about the same? for example, we work in NC but live just across the border in SC because all of the taxes are much cheaper.

i know these are a lot of questions and i apologize for somewhat hijacking your thread. i just figured i would [hopefully] ger more responses here than in the off topic forum.

thanks!!!!

OK.... I can answer a few of these.....

1 - are there auto property taxes in ohio / ky? if so, are they pricey? --- just the cost of the license plates (plus e-check).... I think like $50 + $19

2 - what about window tint laws in either state? By law, I think 50% tint is ok.... I have I think 20% and never have had any problems...

3 - how is the import scene? between the 2 of use we have an '05 RSX-S, an '04 S2k and an '00 teg. do you guys have meets and get togethers on a regualr basis? ---- can't help with this one

4 - how will the S2k fair in the wintertime? that's why i have the teg too but thought i'd ask? [not much snow too often here in NC/SC] The S2000 is terrible in the snow unless you get snow tires....

5 - cost of living seems to be pretty much equal to charlotte, nc {more or less where we live now]. any particularly high taxes in ohio [income tax, sales tax, etc]??? Nah.... cost of living is normal

6 - if any of you work in cincy - would you recommend living in OH or KY? is there a benefit to one over the other - or are they about the same? for example, we work in NC but live just across the border in SC because all of the taxes are much cheaper..... Pick a place for the schools.... close to work.... etc...

Unless they are on some other site.... not to many gatherings of S's around Cincy

We'll get together for a drive or two a year.... not much else.... tried a few years ago getting people together for dinner.... didn't happen for long...

Move to Columbus We have something going on all the time. The southwestern corner of Columbus around the Georgesville Rd area is the most affordable.Strangedaze (Joe) lives in that area;I think. The majority of us live on the north and east side.

About 90 minutes to 2 hours depending upon where you are coming from/going to. Don't go to Columbus, though. The Columbians are a nasty dangerous bunch. They never invite us to anything.

BTW, Jay. (hey, poetry) many of us were out on a local drive Saturday and those that weren't on the drive were working, etc. That's why you got no response.

looks like our timeframe will be to relocate in the Aug/Sept. timeframe. a lot depends on my job prospects as well as if i can sell my house...
