Default Weird CD player error

This happened to me twice last week, in similar circumstances. The first time, I drove for about 45 minutes, parked the car for a couple of hours, the drove from about 45 minutes, parked the car for 5 minutes. When I turned the car on again, the CD ejected. When I put it back in, the player wouldn't recognize the disk. The next morning, I tested it, and it worked fine. Later that night, I drove for about an hour, let it set for a couple of hours, then drove for about 45 minutes. As I was setting the parking brake, the CD stopped playing and ejected (different CD this time). I tried putting the CD back in and got the same error (E-00, I think). I did have the heat cranked pretty good both times on the "top down"vent setting that blows heat out right above the headunit. Has anybody out there heard of this?

I can't find that code listed anywhere and it's not in the service manual. From the symptoms you are having, it is time for a new head unit or to have it repaired, When a cd player stops and ejects, it usually indicates a hardware failure or overheating of the player.

Oh I forgot to mention that some CD-R and CD-RW disks can do some weird things. try some other CD's.

I forgot to mention that both CDs were store bought, not burned disks. I found a few other posts on the electronics forums from people who had similar issues. I guess it could possibly be a condensation issue, but more likely, I'll be adding a headunit to the Christmas wish list.

You can try a lens cleaner also. For condensation, you usually get a text on the display that would state that just as an overheat condition.
