Community Organizer
Just wondering if anyone out there would be interested in serving as Oklahoma's community organizer. I originally obtained this position when the Oklahoma section was formed mainly because no one else wanted it. It's never been a burden and, if no one is interested, then I won't vacate the position, but it'd be cool to have someone else try and light a spark in this community as my methods have seemed ineffective here lately.
What is a Community Organizer and their role, you ask?
That may sound like a lot but it's really not, i.e. you don't HAVE to do all of that. That was just the original intent. We don't have forum badges and membership lists anymore and I've never really tried to turn our local community into a "club" aside from dropping a card every once in a while to encourage new people to come here. Organizing events is actually something anyone can do, i.e. you don't have to have a special title to plan a meet, etc.
As far as the forum goes, as a CO, you would get (very limited) moderating capabilities and access to all the subforums that all paid members can access, plus a couple other top secret subforums.
Do any of you feel up to the task?

The Community Organizer is something of a social director. They are usually someone who is active in organizing events and get-togethers in the local area. Because of this active participation they are well known to the community and have the confidence of the community.
COs (as we call them) are given special privileges to allow them to steer the dynamics of the group but more importantly their intended role is to organize events and to act as a liaison with S2Ki.com to help with developing our global community. They speak on behalf of the community to get things like badge permissions, have troublesome accounts suspended or removed and promote and advertise larger inter-community events and activities.
COs are responsible for maintaining the content quality standards of their forums in a manner consistent with all other S2Ki.com forums and to encourage participation of their members in the broader s2ki global community. They can do this by moving posts of broader interest such as technical topics to the appropriate main site forums and also by promoting events from outside the community.
Except in times of extreme need, S2Ki.com does not appoint Community Organizers. We want your peers to nominate you and therefore you have become a CO with the help of your local community members. You are the lead person within your organization. You are the one respected by your fellow members. Sometimes things change within an organization and someone steps up to help out or take over. We make those changes by request. If we receive a concern from fellow community members about the CO, we will then step in and help out.
All forum communities must be requested, and we recommend you have a decent number of participants to make the community forum worthwhile.

Julie, don't feel too discouraged about the local group and their interest not being "sparked" enough. So many people have turned to social media and other things as of late that it seems nearly impossible to make it so that others actually want to get together and do stuff. We've battled that in our area for over 15yrs. That's why I consider all of the TruForm. meets to be such a huge success and any other little get togethers to be small victories each and every time.
We love you and you've been the most amazing CO anyone could ever ask for!!!
See you soon!

yea don't leave the position. myself and others aren't as active because of social media and honestly the group of us that were on here 4-5 years ago have moved on for the most part. I bought my S in 2007 and the OK group was very active then. I used to frequent every meet until I could no longer attend due to work schedule or the fact that i'm married now and my wife has alot more time off with me and S2k meets aren't her favorite thing.
The S2000 community is changing at the moment. Long time owners may be married now or have a kid (that'd be me as a first rate example). People who were just passing through have probably come and gone already fully out of their "s2000 is the it car" phase. And now many cars are racking up the miles, even the newest is half a decade old. So the only owners who are going to be around from here going forward for the most part are going to be folks who can keep up with the cost of ownership.
I don't think the community is gone, I think it's just growing up. I think it'll ultimately turn into a similar community to the triump roadster groups, small, dedicated, fun.
I have yet to make it to a meet in Oklahoma (which is crazy cuz I made it to tons of meets in California!). But, God willing I will.
Happy driving, see you guys around somewhere, sometime. Great job JulieU, you're one of the folks who convinced me to stay!
