Default Driving the Dragon

Julie has wished for years and finally the dream is about to come true.

I am so excited that you decided to attend RtD and I'm so freaking jealous.

My only recommendation is to not be shy, they will make you feel a part of this Dragon Family and that should be easy because you will already know a few people attending.

The hope is that after Julie has enjoyed this new experience, she will want to organize a return trip to the Dragon. I definitely know Oheim and Dirtybird and I would love to go again as a group, we've already texted about it.

Hope you have a great journey with dry roads and no traffic.

Memories:

David O.. & Chuck O.

Thanks, Janet! I'm excited that I finally get to meet several members of the moderating team but I think I'm more nervous than excited right now. It's gonna be tough to not be shy. This whole trip is a little out of my comfort zone so maybe that'll force me to be more outgoing. We shall see. Hoping for perfect weather and minimal traffic.

This is the first I've heard about it! This guy at the lodge says it was one of their guys from New York. Guess he was going too fast and touching the double yellow centerline and ended up off the road. Then the hot muffler lit the dry leaves on fire and no one had an extinguisher. Sad deal. Driver made it out ok. Not sure who that is though.

I can attest to how dangerous that road is. I drove it back in 2007 in my MR2 and almost lost control multiple times, once actually spinning out and somehow by the grace of God managed to keep the car on the road. Granted I had only owned the car for a few months and the roads were wet that day, but still, have fun but DON`T push it, there's no need to show off on that road, the dragon will eat you alive!

Dang, but yeah I see what you mean. Lots of blind curves. I didn't come here to "slay" the dragon, but to respectfully enjoy it. I think maybe that's where a lot of people go wrong, they come here with the wrong mindset, that they have to conquer the almighty dragon lol.

There was an incident today. A Brazilian tourist on a rented motorcycle went left of center and side swiped Mocky, one of the S2KI admins. He's ok but his blue CR has some damage, including one of his CE28 Genesis wheels. Billman250 brought a full size spare AP2 wheel that I guess Mocky is gonna borrow for the drive home to Ohio and Bill will check to make sure his alignment is in spec tomorrow.

Haven't even looked at the photos on the DSLR but here are some pix from my phone...

While it was near freezing in Tulsa...

Met up with Vadster, s2katTracks, and shawnlam in Nashville...

Then we met up with a bunch more people from various states and Canada in Alcoa...

The back of some dude's shirt...

Billman250 swapping my TCT with his eyes closed lol...

Strapped in for the Fluffy Cloud Puppy Dog run with Billman250...

Been a fun busy day. More tomorrow...
