I think the Ark-La-Tex Community is planning a private track day in May.

If all else fails, I think the Caffeine & Gasoline group is planning on having a track day out there in May and again in November.

That group looks awesome with the sports car diversity. Does anyone know how their track days work? Do you just show up? I couldn't find a way to join. I figure I'll head to La Fortune and meet some of the folks and find out there.

See C&G Hallett Track Day 11/7/2012. That might give you an idea. Pretty sure they'll require a heads up that you'll be participating and maybe a deposit, i.e. I wouldn't just show up lol. If you want, you can e-mail Curt at CandGtulsa at gmail dot com for more specifics.

Perusing the mighty S2KI forum I stumbled upon an issue with S2000s on tracks. The dreaded oil burned that occurs when the exhaust system for the valve cover starts sucking up more than just vapor. From what I've read this is really a problem during sustained high G sweepers in AP1 engines. My question, is this going to be a problem for me in my 2006 at Hallet track?

I doubt it. AP2 valve covers are different (improved PCV valve and baffling).

Part of a recent e-mail from C&G (Curt Rainbolt):

May 14th, that is a Tuesday, I have retained the track at Hallet for another C&G on track event. I know the schedule says the 15th but there was a conflict at the track so I had to set it back a day, hope this doesn’t mess up anyone’s plans to attend. This track day will be a little more open format than what we had in November. I do not currently have instructors on hand to formally teach beginners but hopefully we can work out some ride-alongs from the experienced drivers to give you some pointers of proper track etiquette and how to follow your line and plan ahead.

TRACK DAY SCOOP:
Cost is based on number participating so I can vary if we do not get a full roster in the next couple weeks.

Tuesday May 14th
8am – 5pm
Hallett Motor Racing Circuit
$150 for the day IF we reach the 15 car number.
Long sleeve shirts and helmets are required.
GoPros are encouraged

Once we get the roster started I will send out an updated email to the smaller group to keep you in the loop on information.

If you plan to drive in the May C&G Track Event, please contact me as early as possible so I can get you on the list. This is first come first serve and it is suggested that we top out at 15 cars total. This allows PLENTY of track time for you to get to know your car and your limits.
