Default looking at a car tomorrow

I am going to go look and test drive a car tomorrow morning. What are some main things I should look out for?

check the oil. check for softop tears. i would make sure it dirves like its in alginment. See if the cin on the fenders/bumpers match up to the vin on the frame. Make sure windows go up and down.

well, I would definately check these:

tires,
the whole brake system,
wheel bearings,
The engine oil,
engine air filter,
ac drive belt,
check for any oil leaks,
check the steering system,
make sure the car doesn't dog track,
check for tears in the soft top,
check all fluids, and check for any leaks,
check to if the axles are clicking,
check the feel of the clutch,
these are mainly maintnance checks I do at work, but If i was to buy a car, I'd check the same things.... CHECK THE HISTORY OF THE VEHICLE!

hope this helps a bit.

the list goes on and on...

Missing/painted over VIN tags.
Split/cracked CV joints/steering boots
Fluid leaks
Oil level
Coolant level
Rust/corrosion/oxidation
Tires (uneven wear and remaining tread)
A/C blows cold and heater blows hot
Weakening window motors
Soft top rubber (where the top meets the side windows) in good shape?
Carpet and mats
Upholstery
Lights and blinkers
Engine compartment
Trunk, tire tools
Wheels (curb rash, bent)
Rattles
Notchy shifting

If the seller has service/maintenance records, that'd be a huge plus. Any TSB work done? If you're really meticulous, run a leak-down and/or compression test on it.

Good luck, Trent!

drive the car til it warms up. My tranny is very notchy when it's cold but when it warms up it shifts like butter. You had an S2k so you'll know what to look for. what year is the car?
