my car has been sputtering at idol. a slight popping through the exhaust thought maybe o2 but there was never a code and drives fine only at idol. well i let it idol for about 20 min hoping to throw a code and it did. i checked it to day and it was a miss fire on 123 and random misfire. i have thought of every thing and nothing adds up. i asked a friend that works at honda and a good friend of mine that knows alot and nothing. im hoping someone on here can help me.

 

Would the retainer problem have anything to do with this? I've heard the retainers like to crack on our AP1's
you might check them

 

retainers are only a problem when they fail and drop the valve. you'll know when that happens i promise.

they don't show any signs of a problem until its too late.

Could be the coil packs, or map sensor, or injectors, start by changing the spark plugs with oem ones and then move onto swapping the injectors, (i have a set u can try) and if its still doing it buy new coil packs and a map sensor.

 

i might hit u up on that. its driving me crazy. ill be going through everything tomorrow.

i had the same problem before on my s2000. i started by spark plug, then coil pack but still nothing. the last thing i did was a valve adjustment and it work. no more miss fire. i had the same code you had. try what i did. it might help you out. good luck.
