Default New guy here

Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm LJ and although I am not a S2000 owner, I am a sportscar enthusiast and would like to extend an open invitation to S2000 owners to join the Oklahoma Z Car Club for track/autocross dates at the Sheriffs Department track off of NE 36th and N Air Depot Rd.

It is the first driving event that our club has organized so its popularity hasn't taken off yet. So with that said, I would like to extend this invitation to you guys/gals to take part in what is really a fun event/venue for people who enjoy taking their sportscars out to do what they were designed to do. I actually had a roommate a few years back who drove an S2000 and went along for a ride on this particular track....I nearly ripped his armrest off in sheer terror, lol, so I know what these cars can do and I figured S2000 owners would be a good fit to come out and join in on some fun.

More detailed info on the event(s) located here:
event info

A little bit about myself, I am active duty USAF stationed at Tinker AFB, and own a 1994 300ZX twin turbo. I took over as club president last year, however I missed half the year out of country, so this year I am looking to spend the year making our club much more event centric and bring much more driving events into the mix. I realize there may not be enough Z owners to support fullblown driving events in OKC, so I want to invite any enthusiasts to come along and enjoy themselves at our events. If we have less Z's than non-Z's, then so be it. What is important to me right now is to get fun events organized and running so that not only our club can grow, but partnerships with other clubs can grow too.

So bottom line, if you are interested in getting into some events where you can actually take your car to DO what it was designed to do, the Oklahoma Z Car Club invites you to come out to our track events this year. I am your point of contact to join in on these events.

Thanks for taking a minute to read this, and I hope to maybe meet some of you out at the track.

Wow! Thanks for the invitation! Was Dartanyan your roommate?

Sounds great! Any idea about how much seat time one could expect? More than a typical SCCA autocross event? Would this be similar to the events the SVT club puts on there?

It is unfortunate that there are no events when I'm in town. I will be there 29 May - 19 June.

LJ-I'm USN stationed in King's Bay, Georgia.

LOL, how did you know? Yep he stayed at my place for a while as he transitioned out of the military, and house-sat for me for a while when I was out of country.

To answer your questions, yes I would think you would get more time than what I have seen at Remington Park. I have only gone twice to watch (cone dodging is not inherently the Z32's cup-o-tea), and it didn't seem like people got in too many passes during the day. I would think since the track is larger than an autoX course and there should be far less people to share time with, you would get more time actually driving. I have not gone when the SVT club was there so I can't give you an answer on that one. Basically you will be out there on your own in kind of a time attack style event. Obviously this isn't a competitive event and there is nothing to win, so the real goal is to just have fun and learn your cars in a sort of "driver's education" where you can drive your cars like no sane person would do on public streets. The locale is ours for the day until the club decides everyone has had a good fill of driving.

... oh and the fact that you're in the USAF. That was a contributing factor, too.

LOL, his brake pads were ON FIRE, literally flames coming out of the freaking calipers that day!

Great Gabe, I look forward to seeing you there! PM me your contact info and you can bring the entry fee to the track.

I'm guessing about a mile, maybe a bit more.
