Default Oklahoma Wackos

Rumor has it that the 08 detail day was a bust in the Oklahoma area. Maybe this year could be better. Are there any wackos or product vendors in the area that would be willing to share their tips, product advise, or wackyness with the local S2K'ers?

It would be cool to see some of the pros in action. I can read about detailing all day, but in the end I would really like to see it in action to really get the point across.

I know Meguiar's has a weekend workshop near their HQ in California and is having one at the upcoming Autogeek.net show in Florida. Any vendors in the Oklahoma metro that be willing to do a similar workshop? or know where a semi close one is taking place?

Think of the poor undetailed S2K's out there in sunny Oklahoma..

Wackos don't let wackos oxidize.

I know that you already know, but just to let everyone else know... ZWheat (Zach), our very own local mobile detailer, is up for it. He even has a place in mind already. The only problem is that he's gonna be out of town for a few months, but is interested in getting something together when he gets back. That'll be great whenever fall comes around.

The more the merrier. We could maybe try for a spring and late summer sessions if we get the interest. Detailersdomain posted some interest on the w&w forums.

Besides.. I have two nasty black daily drivers that are in dire dire need of some work.

That's what I was thinking, too... one spring detail day and another in the fall (or yea, late summer). Maybe combining one of them into a "tech day" where folks can do DIY fluid changes and mod installs.

I am up for it but I leave on the 13th to go overseas again to work. My first vacation wont be until around the 6 month mark. I have a place that we could do it at. The guy I use to rent my bay from letting us do something at his shop. We would have access to a lift and a place to do oil changes.

On a side note - I thought I would go get the oil changed on the S yesterday. Went by Bartlesville Honda to get it done becouse I just didnt feel like messing with it. Since I have the intake I had to take out the prop rod and PWJDM were out of the gas struts when I went to order them. Some how the proprod the mechanic used fell out and dented the hood when it shut. They told me flat out they didnt think it happened there. There mechanic even said that the prop rod slipped once and the hood fell but the proprod didnt think the prop rod fell over there. After a couple of hours of explaining why I dont know how their mechanic did it but it wasnt dented when I brought it in, they finally paid for it. They never would accept responsiblity for it and the liability release form I had to sign specifially stated they were not admitting fault. Accidents happen and I would have gone back had they just stepped up, said they were sorry and paid for it. Now the S will go up to Tulsa for all the needed service work. Thank you Bartlesville Honda for supporting my decisions to continue to purchase outside of Bville. I dont know what the deal is with this car. I have had the car over 7 months and less than 2000 miles and its been damaged twice now. I the hell.

Thanks for that update Zwheat. I'll prolly go to Joe Marina Honda. I purchased my CR-V there may years ago and they have always been straight shooters with me on it.

On another side note: For a spring detail session we need some sort of shady space, a water source, and maybe some sort of meeting area for "class room" like instruction. I might be able to get my mechanic to lend some space, but that may limit us to Sundays only. I also thought about contacting the detailer that did my cars last year. He has a portable water supply, but that would be odd asking him for this kinda of request.

Another lead I have is.. Wal-Mart bought the old Albertsons store on 86th and 129th in Owasso. That area is still vacant, but it also included the gas station on the corner. The covers are still there and if the water supply is still on that would be perfect for some washing and waxing. I'll give the Owasso Wal-Mart manager a ring this week.
