Does anybody else get starter grind on a cold start up? Ive used "search" but so far theres no known solution. The colder it gets the nastier it sounds.

 

Well, it's obviously not the timing chain tensioner since you just had that replaced. Sounds like it may be the starter or perhaps just the bendix gear or a worn flywheel.

What keywords did you use? I used "grind", "cold" and "start".

Yes. It was particularly bad this morning (coldest day so far). It lasts for about 1 second and sounds less like a squeel and more like a scratch.

Me too. Especially if I let it sit for a week or so between drives.

yea mine just started this year. i thought it was my starter but i have never had one do that. mine does it pretty bad when it gets colder.

 

I've had a starter grind and a screech on my CR-V for awhile now. Only seems to happen on cold days. Maybe a tensioner, belt, or starter issue?
