temporary new guy
Hey guys,
So I got hired with the FAA and the training academy is in OKC. I am from chicago and drive my S year round. I have winter tires and summer tires on different wheels. So far up here I haven't had to worry about the winter tires yet so I'm guessing 700 miles southwest of me is also doing pretty alright in the weather department. I'll be there jan 3rd until feb 27. So my big question is, what is the weather typically like around those months? I definitely can't bring an extra set of wheels/tires with me so one set needs to be on and in all honesty I'd hate to use my blizzaks since they will wear like crazy in +45ish degrees weather. But I know my V12's wont like the snow either if that's a typical thing down there... They like the rain just fine though.
Also how are the roads? I'm not slammed by any means I'm actually probably only an inch to an inch and a half lower than stock but I'm on HKS coils so the ride is stiff when it comes to sharp pot holes and bumps.

It could be 70° one day and 25° the next. It could be 10° in the morning and 85° by mid-day.
Snow is unlikely, but not unheard of. If you are accustomed to driving in the snow up there...should be a cakewalk down here. You have to watch out for the idiots, though...

That's a tough call on the tires. We've been lucky so far this winter. It's been extremely mild. It's 61° right now but there's a chance for snow next week. Other than that, it's supposed to get above freezing at some point everyday. I'm thinking all season tires would probably be your best bet. Do you have a buddy with all seasons you could swap with temporarily?
Thanks guys.
I don't have anyone I can swap tires with. However there is a dedicated bus line to the academy so I'm not forced to drive every day so I think with that in mind and what's been said ill take my chances on the hankooks and pray for no snow storms.

When we do get sleet, ice, or snow here, it normally doesn't stick around too long. More then 3-4 days is pretty rare. We get freezing drizzle/fog moving into February and mornings can be quite slick. And i dont believe that there is many Oklahoman's who can drive well when it does get slick around here.
Well I'm now in okc. Arrived on Thursday did nothing but shop sleep n go to academy. So what's good to do around here on the weekends? Any car/s2000 things coming up?
P.s. Driving from Chicago to here with hypermax III coils was not fun. Whole lower body had a vibrating sensation in it for a good hour after stopping.
