I left Tuesday, met up with Oheim and his dad in Nashville last night and we did our first Dragon drive this evening. There is no way you could wipe the smile off David's face. The excitement in his face is better than a kid in a candy store or the look of Christmas morning.
The Fontana Resort is beautiful with white and pink dogwoods blooming and you can hear the sounds of waterfalls in the distance as well as S's, everywhere you look you see S's!
David & Chuck (his dad, screen name ChuckWoody, driving a blue Honda SI) took the southern route through some of Arkansas finest twisties after a smooth cruise on Peel's Ferry.
I took the northern route - Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, then Tennessee.
Today we spent most of the morning waiting for David to get out of bed, cleaned the cars and then jumped on the Interstate for an insane drive with all the 18 wheelers. In this part of the country very few trucks drive less than 80 miles an hour. So you can imagine how fast we needed to go to stay ahead of them.
We've been meeting lots of new friends.
We'll post more tomorrow after the poker run and bon fire.
More pix prease! LOL @ oheim's perma-grin! Glad you all made it there ok. Any word on about how many S2Ks are supposed to be out there? Man, I bet you are having a blast! Sure wish we were there, too. Have fun and be safe! Oh and post most pix!
We were having to incredible of a time to take time to post. David took a lot of photos of the cars and will be posting after he gets home and has time to download.
I decided to take the long way home and I'm currently at Newport News, VA. I'm trying to get a glimpse of the USS Enterprise that Trav served on during Vietnam.
I will post a photo though. David, Chuck and I took time to appreciate the beauty of our Earth. Did anyone else celebrate Earth Day this week?
This picture is a little beyond the falls you see in the above photo. David is to the left of the picture. Kept yelling for him to jump in, because there were some fools there doing back flips across from where he is standing.
Words cannot explain this event, nor can pictures. I will post pics tomorrow but all I have to say is that I will absolutely be going back next year, and the next year, and... well... you get the idea!
