Default 2008 Cascadia Drive & Picnic

...
[B]

Wow - what a day! If you were in need of twisty, winding mountainous roads, today should have filled the bill.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY:

* Huy outdid himself by producing some great looking S2Ki Oregon name badges for the newer participants.

* We missed Terry on what was going to be her first drive with us.

* Paul and Elizabeth slept in...... [COLOR=white]...

* Jim hit a rock on the road and ruined his tire (but, it was kind enough to wait until we were in Detroit to go flat). ...He then made an heroic effort to drive to Stayton, get two new front tires and then drive all the way to Sweet Home to meet us - in the middle of town!

* We left Crystal behind when we left Detroit. ...Something about being in a coffee shop.

* It was HOT! ...

* Brandon joined us on the drive with his new Bimmer!

* The County Park Department made an (Ah-hem!) administrative error when they booked the picnic site for the Honda S2000 Club (which WE know doesn't exist! )

* We all enjoyed a great picnic and celebration of Amy's 36th birthday!

Most of all, we owe a big thanks to Aaron for finding, scouting and then leading us on Quartzville Road - an amazing adventure! ...

First! And since we forgot the camera, I have no pics to add

Thanks to everyone for coming! I hope you all enjoyed the roads we got to explore. I know Quartzville is a little tricky but I think it was worth it When I just now got back into Bend (5:30) the bank reader was showing 103 degrees! Icecream comes tonight...

Mike, Marc and Hue, thanks for the briquettes and samples of food. I would have eaten more if I could have!

Jim, I'm glad you were able to catch us in time to enjoy the last half of the drive. Geoff and Crystal, it was nice of you to make it even if you had to leave early.

Phong, we didn't talk much, but it was nice meeting you.

Amy...Happy Birthday!

See you all at the next one!

THANK YOU EVERYONE for the best 36th birthday ever. In fact it was so great today that I decided to have yet, another 36th birthday next year.

Thanks for the very yummy birthday cake, the wonderful cards that means so much to me, the Starbucks gift card, and the great S2K sweatshirt. I was so overwhelmed with your gifts of love. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

I had a great time seeing everyone again, and meeting Phong & Van. The drive was great as usual, full of challenges and best of all...time with friends.

I will post more later, but I just wanted to get this here to thank everyone before my friends show up at my doorstep.

By the way...the cake survived!!! It's all intact and not smashed at all.

Again, thank you...you guys are the BEST!

I did not get a picture of the sunrise, so I got a pic of the reflection of it on my hood.

Jim's tire after the battle with a rock.

Jim wondering if the donut tire will have a negative impact on the car's handling.

The sign at our picknic spot

Someone was a little offended by the wording on the sign so they corrected it......

Somethign smells GOOD!

The crew, posse, group, co-op etc enjoying some food.

Today was a special day for someone......
