2022 McKenzie Pass Drive - July 23 - The Return of a Legend
.................... .
… Saturday July 23rd 2022
Officially 294 miles and 5 hours and 30 minutes of drive time during the drive, however the starting point will be in Wilsonville, OR and end point will be in Salem.
Have you been? Do you need to go again?
Most S2000 drivers find they need a fix every so often. The chance to really carve some curves.
The McKenzie Pass is just the road to do it!
A crown jewel of the Oregon driving enthusiast, we will be returning after a year off to finish off this year's schedule on a high note
We will be starting in the Wilsonville area (exact start point TBD and shared when the drive plan is emailed).
Departure will be no later than 8:00am .
We will begin with a simple cruise down the freeway to Eugene as a "warm up", with a post-breakfast pitstop along the way. …
During our excursion, we will be driving through the McKenzie River Valley which is still subject to recovery efforts after the Holiday Farm fire.
Work crews continue to clear debris and the entire area is under modified speed zones which we will be following closely.
…
…
As we exit the fire zone, we will stop for lunch at Takoda's near Rainbow, OR.
After our meal, we get into the meat of the drive, taking the cut-off for the “Old McKenzie Pass” highway:
…
…
We'll be making the most of the endless curves and twists on the way up to the top of the pass. This is a fairly challenging drive involving tight corners, switchbacks and a need to watch for bicyclists, and other oncoming cars on some of the tighter sections.
…
…
As we ascend, the leafy green of the valley gives way to lava beds formed tens of thousands of years ago!
…
The Dee Wright Observatory at the top of the pass:
… …
Then it is on to Sisters and north through the Willamette National Forest to Detroit.
…
The return route through Detroit will also be subject to modified road controls for clean-up efforts as well.
Once we reach Salem and I-5, the drive will officially end for everyone to make their own way home. …
Don’t miss out on this one!
---> The Drive Plan PDF will be e-mailed to the participants on Thursday, July 21st
All participants must show proof of a valid driver’s license and current insurance coverage. ...
Thanks!

...................S2Ki Oregon -
The fun starts here! ...
In the event of inclement weather we will either cancel or postpone the drive.

Note:This is the Oregon S2000 Owners Forum. As such, our drives are exclusively forS2000's and their owners in Oregon and S.W. Washington.
Our drives are not open to the general public, which includes those who used to own an S2000, hope to own one, those with similar cars, or those who think the drive we've put together sounds fun and would like to tag along, etc.
We are not trying to be snobby here, but are trying to clarify what we are about – The fun and adventure of Honda S2000 ownership.
For those looking at the total length and wondering if you can make it, there is generally a stop part way through the day to refuel, so don't be afraid to sign up and join us. You will make it all the way back!
Looks epic. Enjoyed doing a similar drive in our red turbo S years ago. Will any future drives allow S2K owners to bring a non-S2K alternative?
Currently our S2K only has RE71Rs (overkill for GT drives and cause more rock chips than conventional street tires); other car has PS4S better suited for GT missions like these.
Safe travels and have fun!

You have a PM! - And now I feel self conscious about my Starspecs needing rock guards behind the tires.
Enjoyed catching up with you guys this morning. Hoping everyone had a great time. Looking forward to being able to join the next one! Oregon Region S2K Drive July 2022
