Default Bend/Redmond

OK...you Bend/Redmond boys, I need some help. A couple of weeks ago I went over to Redmond to visit a friend. I remember reading somewhere that Brandon says that the Old MacKenzie Hwy is a kick, so I decided to take a drive. On the way out of Sisters, I stoped by a gas station to fill up (remember I'm a Washington girl, so I have the knowledge to fill my own tank). I told the girl to please "DON'T TOP IT OFF". And of course, she tried to top it off and spilled gas all over my newly waxed car. That was bad enough, but I turned around and caught her trying to wipe it up with one of those hard blue papertowels . What was she thinking?????? Now I'm angry . I told her to get something soft and blot, don't wipe...and better than that, let's get some water "Where's the hose?" Duh!!! . "Gee, I don't think we have one." was what she said .

A couple of days later, on the way home, I stopped at Terrabonne for gas, and guess what happened?!? The guy tried to top it off and gas all over my car .

The next week I was in Portland and need gas, I told the guy "please don't top it off". And you guessed it. He tried to top it off and the same thing happened. Everytime I get gas in Oregon, the same thing happens.

I'm going to be in the Bend/Redmond area again this weekend. Where do you think the more intelligent gas station attendents work at in Central Oregon??? HELP!!

I have gone to Chevron and Towne Pump (local place) and been asked every time if I want it topped and told them no.

Never any spill or any problem.

Just dont go to where they employ kids

One other suggestion now that I've had a moment to think about it.

Out of habit, I will often remind them as soon as they approach the pump to not top it off. A simple "No top please" has always been sufficient.

I also keep a microfiber towel and bottle of quick detailer spray in the trunk for just such an emergency as well. That, or bugs.

I hope you had fun on McKenzie, btw.

McKenzie was all that Brandon promised it would be. I LOVED IT!! I'm hoping to bring my friend along this time, I'm sure that he would enjoy it as well. I've been leaving Vancouver at 2:30 am to get over there by 5:00 am Friday morning, the drive at that time is great. All there's on the road are a few truckers and myself, great drive over Mt. Hood at that time.

I'm just frustrated with not being able to fill my own tank in Oregon as I ALWAYS tell them not to top it off and they still do it.

Hope to run into you in the Bend/Redmond area some time.

we are usually around. you might be surprised how many S's are here that are not on the site. But Brandon and I are working on that

I remember coming back over Hood one weekend at midnight and it was similar...lonely soul.

Just pump your own gas. I have on many occasions told the pump attendent that I do not trust them and I will just pump my own. They don't like it but too bad

I hate idiots!!!!

Surprising that they'd let you.
They can get a massive fine if they let you even touch the pump (if caught by the state, of course).

I've never had a problem with them spilling gas. lucky me. though I do wish I could just pump it myself. but it was fun when my friend worked at the station and I'd make him pump my gas.
