There you go...we can call it "The Big Ass Drive", since we've already had the "Mother of All Drives". I say we'll need to push it a little more. I won't mind a little more drive time. How will it look if we're going for there and back in 7 days?

So you've made reservations for us? I'd like turkey sandwiches for lunch and peperjack cheese burgers for dinner. Root beer if they've got it. Rooms with a queen bed.

I'll get the check to you when we return from Arkansas.

;D

Ah, the double-edged sword!

If you "push it" and cut 2 days out (remember you have to get back as well), then you would be driving 400 miles and 10 hours per day and have no time to stop and smell the roses.

You have to decide which way it will be - a driving/exploring drive or just a Big-Ass drive with no time to explore.

I WANT IT ALL!!!

The only reason why I would say to keep it to 7 days is that it'll make it easier for those with regular jobs to only take 1 week vacation. Me...it doesn't matter because I work my own hours. But definitely a Border to Border drive.

Less pitstops will be OK...for the guys, but hard for me to pee in a bottle while driving.

There are a few places I'd like to see for myself, and a few places I've been that I'd like to share with the group. I don't know if this thread is the place to start having that conversation, but this "Big Ass Drive" could cover a few of my choice destinations.

Places I've been that YOU need to see:
Lake Crescent / Lodge
Hurricane Ridge (in the National Park)
Tatoosh Island / Northwest most point in contiguous USA
Kalaloch
Oregon coast lighthouses
Various HWY-101 bridges
CA-1
Golden Gate Bridge
Laguna Seca Raceway

Some things I haven't seen that I want to:
Mt Rainer and associated roads
Wild horses of southeast Oregon
Squigly yellow line south of OR-34 in Siuslaw National Forest (Klickitat Trail Road?)
CA-299
CA-36
CA-211 (seems to be a lot of CA highways ...)
MLB in San Francisco and Oakland

I'm going to stop there for now - I could type all day but there are chores to be done.

If the departure day is a Saturday 9 days is a week. Remember you get 4 weekend days in a week - 5 days off from work = 9 days off in a row.

What about going as far as San Fran and then move the party east to visit Yosemite?
