Default Car Storage

First, a little intro about me. I am currently in Texas finishing my military commitment, and my wife is in Portland finishing school. I have a 2007 Silverstone that is all original with 35k miles on it. I waited for two years before I finally found the perfect one for me and now I am a happy man.

The car storage idea came to me when I was looking for storage in the Portland, OR area, and this cool car storage club in Portland, ME showed up on Google. http://portlandmotorclub.com

What do you think the interest would be in having something similar to this in the Portland area? I have spent maybe two months in Portland over the last two years, so I really don't have a clue about what to expect when it comes to cars and their owners. I found this thread on the Ferrari forum http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=273422 which was a little inspiring.

Anyways, I am looking simply for open conversation about this topic with what you may like or not like if this were to come to the area.

Thanks and I hope to meet you all in the summer of 2013.

Yes, I am looking at the idea of bringing a unique car storage/club experience to Portland.

The location will include:

*15000 square feet of open, museum style storage
*Climate controlled
*Battery tender available
*Lifts for people to use for repairs
*Ability to arrange for car maintenance procedures
*24/7 access with security and cameras
*Clubhouse atmosphere with TVs, WiFi and a conference room
*Potential for fun events involving paint detailing classes or wine tasting

I am interested in seeing what the s2ki members would pay.

Fees would range from $200-300. There is potential for a social membership too at $50ish a month. Social membership would give access to lifts in the garage, lounge, etc.

are you loaded?

is this a passion?

or just a business venture?

Honestly if it's just a business venture I wouldn't even attempt it. Sounds like way too much $$ to get it going.

It's a passion and a business venture. The start up cost would be pricey...basically starting at $1mil. I does sound a bit overwhelming, but hopefully good analysis would determine if money could be made. However, it seems like nobody on this forum would want to be a member.

Unfortunately, the average S owner is not going to spend this type of money for storage of their S. I believe that you will need to target higher end, more collectable cars as they are the ones that are more willingly fork out the money to have their car stored in a facility like you describe.

Lets be realistic. The S is unique, "rare" in a very limited sense of the word and commands a lot of loyalty/passion for it, but it's still only a $30k car.
Paying half a car payment to keep a car in a remote location garage does not fall into many S-owners budgets or mindset.

I tend to agree with you. I guess I fall into the category that is willing to pay for storage.

In Bend, the have Club Carrera which is built off of Carrera Motors.

If you had a collectible car, or enough money to budget car storage, would you pay for this kind of storage?
