Some of you already know that I do a little freelance work for the local
"Central Oregon Classic Chevy Club".
This weekend was their 23rd annual "Flashback Cruz". Apparently they ended up with 416 registrations (and a few no-shows) to end up around 400 cars (their allowable limit by the city I think). They were forced to close registration even though there were probably 50 more cars parked around the area.
They take over 3/4 of the big park downtown for the day to show and tell and do their awards and raffles, etc. I always go down and hang around to help out here and there if they need it and this time I remembered my camera! I'm not the photographer that some of you are, but I'm sure you dont mind.
To give you guys an idea of how big this thing is:
The Sponsors and Vendors bring their show cars (both old and new) to let people admire:
Dodge Viper R/T-10 Convertible
Plymouth Prowler
M6 Convertible
E92 M3
M1
Classic Porsche (Not sure what model)
C6 Z06
Some of the members had some interesting additions as well:
Lotus Exige/Elise
Some custom Choppers
de Tomaso Pantera
I dunno what it is, but it was cool
Ferrari 250 GTE (we make the same HP with 1/3 the engine and 66% of the displacement and 36 years!).
The body shots didnt turn out so well .
Those were some freakin' awesome cars. Aaron, you must have been in heaven. I wish I would have known in more time that it was happening. I remember you talking about it at Crater Lake and I saw you post about doing tech support for it last week. It just wasn't enough time for me to get out of work.
I would have loved to gone and seen those beasts. I would have loved to have seen 'Eleanor' in person. Was it the same as in Nick Cage's 'Gone in 60 Seconds', or was it one of the original ones? The newer one is one that I wish I could get my hands on!!
The car in the Eleanor photo looks exactly like the car that was on the grass.
There's always next year Doug
It's always the first weekend of August.
It's funny because there are countless examples of amazing machines there, but this is my 4th year of working with them so half the cars I've seen before many times. There were still quite a few unique ones this time that were really fun to check out.
The race vette was the most nuts. While it was running, those side pipes were blowing out air that seemed like it was going to singe the grass (or melt his cooler). When he revved it, I litterally jumped and it hurt my ears. Absolute insanity.
I'll be sure to mention it earlier next year. Maybe we can turn it into a group event and get all you pdx guys down here for the day to browse the cars.
Speaking of some cool cars. Can anyone tell me which Lambo this is. It was snapped on my cell on my way home from work so the quality isn't great.
I was behind him for about two miles. From the stop lights, if he didn't mash it, I was able to keep up with him. Accelerating from about 45, I had no chance, but it sure sounded awesome.
