Christmas Cruise
On December 17 I flew to Baltimore, MD. On the 18th, my folks and I boarded the Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas for a 9 day cruise.
Here are some pictures from my trip. As many of you know – I do not believe in doctoring my photos. Some may have light adjustments and cropping.
Day 1 – departure from Baltimore, MD
The first day we had some snow on the ground, but nothing major. The first night we experienced some flurries of snow on our way out of the Chesapeake Bay. Once we cleared the bay, the sea turned rough for the next day or so.

After dropping our stuff off in our room, we had lunch. Here is the ice and fruit carvings.

After lunch we scouted out the ship some.
Indoor pool and hot tubs – actually the roof slides back, but when it is 30F outside, the roof stays closed.

View from the top of the Centrium.

Christmas decorations – very nice.

Day 2 – At sea.
We saw what we were later told was a rare sight – Sea Smoke – I was unaware of how rare it was so I did not snap any pics. To me, it looked like fog.
Some decorations

Day 3 – Cape Canaveral, FL
We spent the day with a great view of NASA – Kennedy Space Center. After lunch we took a short walk over to Ron Jon’s Resort.
Sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean

Fishing boat with Cape Canaveral lighthouse in the background.

New US sub type – looks like land.

Day 5 – Nassau, Bahamas
The port was very busy with 5 ships in port. We were ship 2 into port.
Atlantis Casino Resort at sunrise

Ship number 3 to arrive in port was the Oasis of the Seas – the worlds largest cruise ship (in operation). This Ship has space for 6300 passengers and 2200 crew!

To show the size of the ship – the Oasis is on the right, our ship is on the left – we had 2658 passengers and 800 crew on our ship.

Monument dedicated to those who fought in WWII.

The Bahamas takes safe sex serious – this sign is on a government building.

Government buildings

After walking around town – we took a water taxi over to Atlantis Casino and Resort.
5 Cruise ships in port – a total capacity in excess of 16,000 passengers.

Atlantis from the water Taxi.

Small boat – heading to work.

Fish at Atlantis.

Christmas tree – about 30 feet tall.

This one did not work exactly how I wanted it – if you look carefully on the right and bottom of the window, you can see part of the tree and people inside.

Inside the sports book.

View from the Casino floor – I heard this is one of only 4 casinos in the world with windows – I am not sure how true that is, but it is the only one I have ever been in.

Tensile Santa with Cruise Ship.

The pool deck.

The lighthouse, Atlantis, and the cruise docks.

Day 6 – Key West, FL

Entrance to the Key West Toy Store

Salvaging was the largest industry in Key West at one time – this statue is to the Salvagers.

Key West outlawed cock fighting many years ago – as a protest, people who owned the cocks released them into the streets. These things run wild all over the place. Key Westers claim that the cocks eat all the mosquitoes so they have very few.

Day 7 – CocaCay, Bahamas
This is a private island owned by the cruise line – my family is not into water sports, so there was not much that appealed to us. We went over, snapped some pics and hung out for a bit.

As my dad and I walked back to the tender boat we spotted a lady looking at a small wall. As we got close to her we noticed these 2 guys.

Day 8 – At sea

Day 9 - At sea
The decks were closed due to waves 14-20 feet.
Day 10 – Arrival in Baltimore
Little to no snow on the ground – we picked up my aunt and headed South. There was 4-6 inches of snow on the ground at my parents house when we arrived here about 4pm today. I have a few days to relax at the folks house before returning to the rainy Pac NW.
