Default First HPDE session and I am hooked! :)

Attended the BMW club HPDE session on 6/6/11 and it was awesome! The instructors were very good and I felt track time was adequate. I was happy the hear the instructor say that my car was setup perfect and not mess with it unless I can truly "drive" it. Met John there with the only other S2000 and saw lots of interesting cars as well. Overall a grand time. I will be attending the August session.

If you have not done it, I highly recommend going to HPDE classes. You will understand the capabilities of the car (which seems to keep on amazing me). I had done a few auto-x before, but the duration of the auto-x run was too small and there was too much waiting involved.

Sounds like you had a blast Abhi! I checked the BMW website and the only one i could find for August is Monday the 29th. Since this will be my first track day, did you take an instruction class the day before you went? I thought some clubs make you do so? I would love to learn the capabilities of the S2000 on a track and have always wanted to do one for the longest time.

I would love to do this as well. But the tracks are a little to far away from me and I don't have a daily driver as of yet. Just don't want to break something at the track far from home, with nothing else to drive.

There is a class room session included in the session (although probably smaller duration than other schools - about 1 hr). We got to drive four 20 minute stretches with an instructor on board.

I am signing up for the August 29th one too. There is one on July 25th, I think (Tri-club).

Go here - https://www.motorsportreg.com/ and look for BMW Club of Portland events. $185 for the day. There is a July 25th HPDE also, FYI. Looking forward to seeing more S2000s out there.
