An ex-girlfriend of mine worked at a pretty good Japanese restaurant down on the river, but unfortunately I cannot remember the name.

Do you/did you go to UM?? I'm a closet fan, both my grandparents graduated from there and our family business is located in Ann Arbor.

GO BLUE!!

Hi and welcome!

It is hard to direct you on what to check out without knowing what you might be interested in.

Probably the best Chinese restaurant in the city is Legin at the corner of 82nd and Division (82nd is a straight shot from the airport). It is where the Chinese community eats and is the most "authentic" around.

You'll enjoy Salishan. Just be sure to get out of town before the rush hour or you will find yourself sitting a lot out on Hwy 26!

She's an ex-girlfriend and you can't remember her name?

I don't know about any Chinese or Japanese... but if you want the absolute best thai food you've ever had (esp the pad thai) check out E.San on 2nd street, just a couple blocks before Burnside... if your waitress' name is Bori, tell her she has a beautiful smile.... she blushes easily.

Like Larry(VintageMac) said Legin on 82nd and division is a good Chinese resturant but mainly for Dim Sum. If you want good authenic Chinese food then I suggest Thien Hong on NE 67th and Sandy Blvd you must try their Salt n' Pepper squid (calamari). For Japanese if you have time then I would try Saburo's on SE 16th and Bybee there's always a line in the evening though. If you wanted to stay in the downtown area then you can try Mio Sushi on NW 22nd and Johnson St., Bush Garden on SW 9th and Morrison, or Dragonfish on SW 9th and Park/Taylor. For Chinese in the downtown area maybe Mandarin Cove on 1st and SW Columbia. There are others around the area. You can also go to portlandcitysearch.com and explore these resturants as well as things to do. Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy your time in Portland.
