Default Guys.... Pick a Car

Well I wanted to upgrade to a nicer car this summer/fall... But plans have changed.

I am no longer moving to Eugene and staying in BC. So, now that I will be living downtown and taking a car with me, I want a car that I can subject to the lifestyle of a college kid living in a condo/apartment downtown now. The s2000 is not for that anymore. And because of tuition/housing/etc, I cannot drop the money on a nicer car now. So I hope to move laterally and get a more practical car (less vandalism, concern, insurance, etc.). I am looking at the $20-$22K range. I will consider a sporty sedan (with some luxury, so no EVO/WRX), SUV (decent mileage & midsize), etc.
Let me know if you have other suggestions?

I'm at a loss... This price range is just short of cars I really like, such as a 2004 Audi S4 or 2003 Infiniti FX35. Damn.

The next car will NOT be a project like the SDuece... But I will do little things such as tint, exhaust (quiet and deep - HKS style), intake, and springs (not super low). Just cleaned up a bit, I'd say.

Overpriced Corolla?!?! I'm gunna have to hear your reasoning on that one. My sister drives an IS300 and I've never once been in it and thought of a Corolla.
