I need to get with Larry on this, but what is everyone's method of getting their hardtop onto and off of their hoist rig? From what I've seen from others' rigs, there's no easy way about it. I've been meaning to pick up some dense foam to cut large wedges out of that can be placed such that they hold the hardtop a few inches from the car so that the hoist can be connected or disconnected without the top resting directly on the car. Then just pull out the foam pads to set the top down onto the car.

I let the rear latches keep the top up off the car.

BTW this winter I am going to reengineer the rear cable a little to make it essentially a 4 point connection with the top.
