Default HKS Hi Power Dual

Does anyone local to Portland happen to have an HKS Hi Power dual exhaust with stock or high flow cat I could listen to in person? Just discovered the welds on my UK mod exhaust have cracked, along with the adjacent piping after about 10k miles of use so I need a new exhaust. Seems to sound the best online and is very cost effective, although it does look a bit like two grenade launchers!

I had the HKS Hi-Power dual on my AP1 with a stock cat.
It had a great sound. Nice hum at idle and a great growl at WOT in the higher revs.
The biggest downfall with it is that even with the massive resonator on it, it had a pretty bad drone at the 3k range (2500-3500ish) which is right at cruising rpms.
If you put the pedal down while in the drone range in a high gear, it could drown out the stereo and talking pretty easily.

That being said, I did love the unit as a whole.

Try to hear the Tanabe Medalion Touring dual exhaust. Quiet when needed and no cruising speed drone. I have a Berk 63.5mm high flow cat in front of mine. I replaced a new Invidia Q300 system after just a month with the Tanabe after watching my wife's facial expressions on country drives.

Try to hear any exhaust from inside the car at cruise speeds where most of your driving will be.

I suggest you find a way to take a short top up drive to evaluate exhaust sound because what may sound great going by you on the street can be a loud and droning irritant.

I had an HKS many years ago that sounded great from the outside and when playing with the top down but it was only a month before I knew I could not live with it long term. A friend had a single that was exciting with a drive by but was too loud for me at any time when in the car.

I eventually wound up with a Mugen but I know there are other systems that are a good everyday compromise. I really wish we had an option like the Vette guys have to open and close baffles.

Not really, look a bit tacky to me. Plus then I need the bumper cap etc. much prefer the dual exhaust look.

Thanks mate - roof is never up!

Probably going to try and find another OEM and do the mod again, but look for a better welder (track forged no longer here so no warranty claim)
