I found treasure hidden in the S
Ok so get this...
I'm up here in St. Helens after getting my tinting re-done. Big thanks to Huy for playing Chauffer for a couple hours so we could grab some lunch and whatnot. And a thanks to Doug for meeting up and delivering that tonneau after months of procrastination (sort of) on my part.
Since my memory is apparently spot on today (right Huy?), I forgot the tonneau in Huy's trunk. He graciously met up with me this evening (again) to let me grab it. On the way back, Teresa asked if she could drive the S, so I say sure.
Picture this: I'm riding shotgun in my own car, and I hear this light rattling sound coming from behind my ear. I know little rattles are common for the S, but I've been trying to isolate a few of them and see if I can minimize them. So this rattle/buzz sounds like it's coming from the base of the softtop on the side. I start reaching around and slide my hand down into the opening for the softtop motor and feel some thin "things". I think "hmm, pine needles maybe". I pull the bundle out and low and behold.....Zip Ties. About 15 of them. Also a VERY old Home Depot receipt for the zip ties, and.......
A Dollar!
I have no idea how I missed this before. It's been there since before I owned the car. The receipt was from WA.

Wow - hidden treasure!
So besides solving one rattle problem, how did Teresa do driving the S?
While we were waiting for Debbie's car to arrive, we were a one S family and Debbie did a lot of driving of my car. She did really well - and not a ding, either!

Well, let me put it this way...she first learned the basics of how to drive a manual in the S (pretty challenging car to learn in), then she got her Saturn which had a pretty worn out clutch. That actually made it easier for her, I think. Now she has her Civic which has gotten her really comfortable with it, but the S is a whole different beast.
Other than driving down the highway at 60mph in 5th (not used to 6th) and a few kills from a start because she isnt used to the clutch, she does pretty good

Her first couple of times, which have been in parking lots, she has done extremely well. I want her comfortable driving it by the Crater Lake trip so she can enjoy driving around the rim.
