I hate DEQ...
Almost coming up on 2 years for me (wow, already!) and got the DEQ notice. I'm down in Medford but we have DEQ as well, so off I went..
And after waiting 20 minutes in line I pull in to have the OBD port plugged in. The guy doing so refused to listen to me for its location, he insisted it was on the passenger side. I told him three times it was on the driver's side near juncture of the radio and steering column. This gentleman was well over 6'4 and 300 pounds and was unable to squeeze himself to verify. Yes, the seat was pushed all the way back. Yes, I can see it. I even offered to plug it in myself, he said it was 'against the rules'.
Went home in a mild huff, removed the driver's side panels and radio. No excuses right?
Attempt two, skinnier guy, still unable to plug it in. Wouldn't let me do it. I'm calling someone, anyone in the state of Oregon to chew out at this point. Thanks for reading my rant.

Show them the pic in the owner's manual and don't go thru so much trouble in removing panels etc. I do DEQ in the Cornelius Pass one and they were well versed in the S and even the NSX OBDII location.
It moved and MY '00 has it on passenger side but I have had techs here in Washington spend too much time on the wrong side. At least I have been able to point it out... it is easier with the top down and seat all the way back.
I would be tempted to take a flashlight and mirror next time.

This location has the self serve. I drove up, plugged it in myself, ran the scan, swiped my debit card, and was off with my stickers in at most in 10 min from start to completion.

Smogging my S took like two minutes at the sherwood DEQ center. I was in and out, with no issues in terms of locating the OBD port.

I'm THE ideal DEQ 'customer'.
