Post Moving to Portland

My girlfriend and i are going to be moving to Portland this coming january ( i know its a ways away but i have to plan ahead) attending school and just having a good time.

I currently live in arizona 20 min west of phoenix and i will be driving my 06' S2k from here to portland or i might tow it cause i dont want those miles on it. But i dont want to park it on the streets or anywhere that it can be broken into since i dont have a hard top yet...so i want to store it at a storage place or somewhere if anyone else knows where i might be able to...

Does anyone know where a god place near downtown portland or around there where i can store my car in a storage unit?

I just dont want it to get broken into, keyed, door dings etc .....

thanks in advance

also if anyone on here lives in downtown portland or goose hollow, how much monthly rent for a 1 bed 1 bath or studio do you pay?...i have found really great deals there and really nice places....

yet again help me there too lol

thanks again

We'll depending on the district you plan on moving to in downtown can range alot. You can find a descent studio or 1bdr for 6-800, and can go up quickly. GL on your search! Portland is one of the better cities I've lived in over the years.

You are definitely heading to one of the more pricier downtown districts. Are you going to PSU?

There are many residential garages downtown so finding one once you locate where you will live for sure won't be too bad. We are all here and would love to help ya out.

It will be nice to get another Laguna around here. Sometimes I still miss mine. It is a GREAT color.

It's not terrible to have your car out without a hardtop. I never had my laguna inside and I lived in North Portland (Not the most crime free area...) and I've never had a problem with it.

thank you very much to you both

ileventhal86-my gf and i will be attending PCC first then going to PSU...i might be doing the Portland Police officer training and dual enroll in school after i get my associates for biology.

DO you know what the price range would be for a garage downtown or vicinity?

Yeah i had an 03' SSM and it got broken into and totaled out at $42,000 this past nov. then i bought an 05 sti and just traded it in 2 weeks ago for the 06' LBP far better car and lovin it.

Your car not getting broken into makes me feel better about leaving her out in the sun and all...

thanks again for your help

Hope you get used to the rain

My brother lived in Phoenix for a year... he brought his girlfriend from Phoenix to Oregon once, and she hated the weather... I think that was part of the reason she dumped him when he finished school there. I don't think I could stand living in a place that hot, or sprawled out. Oregon is really nice in the summer (not too hot in the day but warm enough to stay outside at night), but the rain gets old the rest of the year.

If you do plan on driving, highway 101 is a GORGEOUS drive all the way up the west coast and through the redwood forest in northern california. It's a couple hours longer than taking I5, but it's well worth it.

What's the reason for moving out of state to attend a community college? Especially if you are not an OR resident, you will be paying more than resident university tuition and only getting CC education.

actually its only $270 a credit for CC and 1 year to get residency and to attend PSU for instate tuition. Also PSU in state and out of state is cheaper then where i am going in az....its pretty expensive to go to NAU in az.

So i am looking for a garage so my car is not outside, in rain sun whatever it may be. Does anyone know of a place where i can store my car? storage unit etc...
