Default MS Access help

I've been requested to modify a voting database for a car club here in town since I'm a "friend". No money in it and I havent touched Access since highschool and this is way beyond my ability. The changes I want to make seems like it would be really simple, but every attempt I make screws things up. It's starting to drive me nuts.

Anyone willing and able to give me a hand?

I don't know anything about Access, it has been about 9 years since I even opened Access.

^^

That's my whole problem. The program works as it is, but they are trying to streamline it to make it faster for them (it's very clunky right now). I'm in way over my head but trying to do them a favor. I *hate* access right now.

Thanks Larry. I'll try perusing those, but I think this program is a little too advanced for it. In my own mind, I can visualize what I need to do, but I cant make it happen without it spitting all kinds of errors at me and I'm just overwhelmed as to why.

Nothing like a late night epiphany that solves 90% of the problem to make you feel better.

Now does anyone know how to automatically convert a colum of text to numbers in Excel? (e.g. If I have a set of alpha numbers (A1, B1, C1, C2, etc) that I want to automatically associate with numbers only (10, 11, 12, 13) and be able to copy the resulting list of numbers, any idea how can I do that easily?

Hey Aaron,

I know a little bit about Access. Are you trying to do this with VBA codes or right into the database tables?

There's a few ways to go about converting data types in Access, but need to know where you would like to do it in.

Thanks Brian.

I made a post last night in the computer forum too and got a little tip on how to do it within Excel pretty easily before I link the table into the database.

I really appreciate the offer though. It was driving me crazy!
