It totally is a sink strainer.... a couple dollars more than that but very cheep. That's the point, its industrial grade and if you ever have an issue with it then you can pick one up at a local store. The shape helps repel any rocks or whatever that may be heading toward your turbo, also the dome shape doubles surface area, opposed to hose clamping a large mesh screen to the face of the turbo.
Its the plastic ring that's machined to snap onto any 4" inlet precision or garrett turbo, There is also a grove machined into the plastic that retains the hard metal ring of the screen to keep everything in check. Even haters...

Saw this last time Marc and I stopped by Forged, there's is more to it than just the commercial sink strainer since it seemed that they got that plastic piece specially made/fabricated to hold everything in place. Snaps on pretty nicely!
for Forged!

Hello Oregon S2KI!
I've been spending a fair amount of time on S2KI over the past few weeks getting the information I need to purchase a good used S2000. Very helpful. I will be purchasing one soon -- don't know exactly what just yet -- but thought I might as well join now as later.
My sporting RV of choice for the past 12 years has been a variety of sporty motorcycles. Most recently a 2010 Honda VFR1200. But an accident has convinced me that I'm better off on four wheels than on two.
An S2000 seems the perfect 4-wheeled substitute!
My very first car was a sportscar, a 1949 MGTC basket case that I bought when I was 14 (many years ago) and got running by the time I was old enough to drive it. But that's the only road-going sportscar I've ever owned (although for 10 years or so I raced a variety of Formula Vees and Formula Fords), and I think it's time I corrected that.
I'm looking forward to finding a decent car, getting to know other S2000 drivers in the Pacific Northwest, enjoying all the great roads I've been enjoying recently on two wheels, and seeing if I can't find more. Thanks S2KI for being here for me!...

this is a harsh reminder to the rest of us that we aren't the only ones who cherish our cars, other people do as well, and some of those people will try to take them from us.Evan @ Forged
