Default A recommendation

I found this place online but didn't want to recommend it until I'd given it a whirl myself:

Rock Auto Auto Parts

They have a unique selection of auto parts for a huge number of cars, including the S. I just recently ordered two things from them:

1) Cabin Air Filter - Normally about $25 from the dealer. I got a TYC branded one for just over $7. States that it's OEM. Even came with a printed direction sheet that specifically listed teh S2000 and had pictures of the S engine bay so that was reassuring. The membrane is a little thinner and less cloth-like, but for a breather filter on a convertible? I didn't think it was an issue. It also fit PERFECTLY. Snapped right in. Shipping was $2.99.

2) NGK spark plugs - OEM spec 7772. Dealer is usually around $20/ea. Most auto places around here would have to order them and they were $13-15 ea. Rock Auto had them for $9.89 ea. Showed up as a newly boxed 4-pack. Shipping was about $6, so it made them around $11/ea. Still cheaper than local.

Wanted to share the wealth if anyone was wanting parts for cheap. They have a lot of other oddball parts and whatnot including an aftermarket softtop (cant rememebr the brand) for about $500-600. Same as a Robbins. Might save some money if you're in the market for mechanical bits?

Changed my spark plugs finally after 117k miles. They were a bit worn to say the least...lol. The car feels a lot more peppy now and it was surprisingly easy to do. I was proud of myself

I use this website all the time. I would give it 8 thumbs up because they stock alot of the random weird parts. And its almost always cheaper than a stealership or a local parts store. Only drawback is the shipping wait

It's surprising how much peppier the car feels by just changing the plugs. Thanks for the link. I might look at them when I need to change the soft top. It's starting to get a few little holes in it from wear.

Thanks again.

The plugs were designed to go to 100,000 miles. With that said, I changed mine at about 75,000. They are not that expensive and are not that hard to change.

I'd say anywhere from 75k-100k would be well worth it. Dont go to 117 like I did

The big push for plugs designed for extended life before replacement is all about staying within emission guidelines with government agencies pushing for 80k+ miles. But performance really does degrade slightly over the miles. IMO a plug change every 30K or so for maximum performance is a reasonable guideline.
