Responsibility to Each Other
I think this really needs to be said.
This has been on my mind for quite some time and I really think that this needs to be said. Most of you know me and know that I am an upfront person and will say what's on my mind.
I want to let all of you know that I have really enjoyed each and every one of you. We have not only become friends, but I consider each one of you part of my family. If you are part of this group in any way...then you're family. Most of us on this site feels this way, especially if you have been on one of our official drives. There's just something about the comradery.
Because we are like a family, I want to remind every one here that what you do when we are all together is a direct reflection on each and every one of us. As usual, our wonderful Community Organizers are great about putting together a drive each month from March to October, and they are very much appreciated. But as our community grows, I am noticing more impromptu drives, get togethers and D&D's each month, which is great and I enjoy them as much as anyone else. Every family loves a get together. But during these get togethers, please remember that what you do effects everyone here. The public's opinion of what you are doing whenever there are 2 or more S's together reflects on the entire group. If we want to continue our fun as a group and not be looked at negatively, then it's up to each of us to act responsibly.
If you are on an impromptu drive, and you are leading the group, please drive responsibly. If you want to drive like an irresponsible driver, please do so when you're on your own. Remember the time that Chris was stopped in the gorge when coming home from the Lake Chelan drive, they were actually looking for S2000's because there was a complaint called in about aggressive driving by a group of S2000's. Now, I know there were 2 groups that day, and I don't know for sure which group was complained about, but there was one group in the gorge and the people on the official drive were in Yakima. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which group was the one that was complained about in the gorge, that's why they were looking for S2000's in the gorge.
I have a friend who is very high up with the CA State Troopers, and what he told me is that they have people scouting the web all the time for aggressive car groups and they try to figure out where they are going and their route, then they go looking for them to make sure that they behave, and it has become a game for some of the troopers to try to catch them. Now, if they are doing it in CA, you can bet that they are doing it elsewhere and probably in our area as well. Case & point, per the above paragraph, Chris was pulled over, not because he was stopped for speeding, he was pulled over because they were actually looking for S2000's after a complaint.
If they ask you to leave a parking lot as a group...don't yell, stomp, call people names, use profanity, act obnoxious or peel out. You just proved to them that they were right about stereotyping you. Simply leave quietly and file a complaint respectfully, that will get noticed more than anything else. I am not saying that you guys did that last night, as I understand it, you guys did well with the security guard, but please keep in mind that if it happened once, it will happen again.
I thought I would post this today, and remind everyone of their responsibility to our group because I saw a group of Mustangs pulled over on Hwy 26 on their way to the beach today, just outside of Vernonia, on the west side of the tunnel. 3 cops...5 Mustangs. And because of what happened last night at Tanasbourne. I am not saying that the Mustangs did anything wrong, or that you did anything wrong last night. I just want to remind everyone of their responsibility.
After all, I want our drives to continue to be fun filled, instead of us being paranoid with looking out for cops.
I hope every one agrees with this. I do really enjoy your company and would like things to continue. Please keep the fun for everyone.
Thank you.
Amy
