From what I understand with LoJack, a police cruiser has to be within a certain distance to actually pick up the signal. I think LoJack is a little behind in the times.
I think this a great idea. Sounds like a few of these options are a little ahead of the times when compared to LoJack. The officer who found my car told me he got the report on a stolen car with LoJack so he activated his LoJack finder in is police cruiser. He said his cruiser had to be within 5 miles of my car to get a signal. The system brought him right to my car. My car was recovered within 3 hours of me reporting it. He also mentioned that because of the cost of equipping each police cruiser with this hardware not every police cruiser has one. So even though my experience was a success it would seem LoJack is not full proof. You have the 5 mile range limit and you also have a limit on how many police cruisers have the ability to find your car.

That's true, but besides lojack, there are no other GPS tracking systems that police have available correct?

Interesting. So if youre car is stolen does RTM or one of these other companies notify the police exactly where your car is? How are the police to know. I wonder if the police have the ability to track a car with something other than LoJack.

Maybe running both options is the key. Double coverage.

I don't believe they do, at that point what do you do? Call the police and tell them where to find your car?

Good question. I'll forward this to rmt and see what they say.

Maybe they have some testimonials of customer experiences on how RTM saved the day and got their car back. I still think this is a really good idea.
