Default Soft Top Wear

hey guys, just wondering if any of you could help me out. I recently had a new soft top installed on my car after my old plastic top ripped. and i read in one of the write-ups that there is a plastic cover that causes the normal stress holes in the top that your supposed to cover. does anyone know which part that is? pics? any help at all would be grateful.. i dont want my new top to end up like my old one. thanks.

I'm not familiar with that issue. Where abouts did your old top rip?

I know on the crossbar that folds back when the top goes down has some sharper edges at the area where it bends. People often glue on a strip of fabric along the area where it slides to help buffer the top from it.

Mine is also wearing holes in the spots where the latches rub during the fold-down. I just glued some fabric on the inside where they were tearing and it seems ok now.

Probably the best thing is to put it down in May and don't put it up again until September.

Or just remove it completely and enjoy some rain in your hair

THIS!

There is a bar that folds forward when the top goes down. The elastic usually pulls it forward but if it doesn't go forward all the way the roof can rub on parts of the frame..at least that's what we think. Being that we're on the 3rd roof now we really wanted to find out what caused it. (props to Honda for paying for the first two replacements on my out of warranty car I guess working for them has some benefits ) The first totally wore a hole through and the second showed significant signs after 6 months....of course I was ALWAYS top down when the car was moving and top up when it was parked....actually drove top up 3 months after I got the car just to see what it was like
