Default Steering Wheel problem

Problem: my steering wheel started jerking to the left when I turn a little at slow speeds or when I am fully stopped. Anyone else have this problem?

I did some research and found out the it can be multiple problems. And of all those problem I don't know how to check any of them to see if that is causing the steering wheel to jerk to the left.

Anyone know why or how to diagnose the problem?

Well I read up on a few threads and most of them go get their cars realigned but the problem is still there.

They end up replacing the power steering rack....and I want to avoid that =)

i would check all of the cheap stuff that takes a few moments first.

tire pressure, re-torque the wheel, check the shock.

then try to get the car jacked up, or on a lift.

axle, joint, steering rack, alignment.

I already took off the wheels and checked the shocks, and torqued the lugs to 95lb. I will check the axle as soon as I get a chance to this week.

How do I tell if the steering rack is bad?

Most likely your alignment. It could be your brakes too..
