I'm waiting to receive few more documents to be able to file but I was scheduled to pay from 12-18 k depending on right offs

I just think of how the s could look if I didn't have to

I'm one of the only ones out of all my friends who DIDN'T end up owing state.

Actually owing as much tax as possible without a fine is viewed as the best strategy, which is minimizing the free loan you are giving the government.

Many years ago I would claim 9 dependants to eliminate withholding and just pay in April, but that is against the regulations now. Even today if I get a refund I feel that I have screwed up by paying too much before it is due.

Interest on savings is (or almost) nothing today but the flexibility of having your own funds until you have to release them is worth something.
