I just looked it up and the RE050's are a 140 rating.

Sumitomo HTRZ-IIIs, baby!

Had a set on OEM 17" wheels that were amazing and I sold with the wheels last year. S is in storage now, but I am planning to buy a set of the same tires for my Volk wheels sometime in March. Highly recommended by TR also. BTW, a set of all 4 cost under $400.

This is a very good point Tony

Another vote here for the TA KDW's. I have ran them on two of my previous cars and I loved them. I never did run them on the S though

hmmm some of these sound like good ideas for my future since Ive managed to destroy at least half of the tread on my rears since I bought them almost 3,000 miles ago

hmm. I'm getting some mix feelings about getting new tires now after reading your statement.

I too am going to need new rear tires soon, but to my understanding, as long as I stay within the same compound grade of tire, I should be able to run a different set in the rear while keeping my current front since they still have plenty of tread left. But now I gotta do some more reading on this.

As long as you have plenty of tread left on the fronts you should be fine. The problem is that some people run their rears way to far down because the fronts are not as worn. Then they replace the rears and 3,000 miles later the fronts are bald giving you an uneven wear front to back. This can be dangerous

As long as you keep the tread wear pretty even front to back and run the same compound like you said you should be ok. Just remember to check both your front and rear tires for wear often

Normal everyday driving it is not AS big of a deal but if you drive spirited like on our drives it can throw you for a loop. You get used to the slight understeer or oversteer your car has but then the uneven tire wear changes that and puts you in a situation that you are not familar with.

I got 25k out of my original tires. Replaced them with more OEMs. I probably won't be doing that for round three since I commute in the car.

I liked the OEM tires better for spirited driving but the Toyo T1-R's are better for commuting IMO. THey are a little quieter and a bit softer ride. I only put about 8,000 miles on mine so I can not comment on their mileage

I also got 25K out of my OEM 050's. I replaced them with Dunlop Direzza DZ101's (last years model) 5K ago and have nothing but good things to say about them. This years model, the Direzza Sport Z1's, were the original tire I wanted, but when I order the warehouse shipped the wrong ones.

They claim to be extreme summer tires, but I have been driving on them all winter with very little slippage in even the wettest of conditions. Even when I do indulge in spirited driving during my commute, (which everyone here knows I don't drive spiritedly ) there have never been an issue with these tires. They are a quiet tire, at least on my car, (thanks again Brandon for the Greddy Ti-C) and they appear to be wearing evenly and pretty well (they have a 200 rating I believe). I only anticipate getting another 15K out of them before having to be replaced.
