Today I learned that California is not as conservative as Oregon when it comes to marking their speed signs for curves.

I learned you CAN'T double the posted speed and make it (safely) around the corners - especially those pesky 50 mph corners!

We had a nice day driving on twisty, winding roads over the Sierras on Monitor Pass. Then at 8,000 feet, along the tops of the Sierras on down past Mono Lake and to Mammoth Lakes.

I also learned that California S drivers aren't so friendly. We waved to two of them and only got stares! You would think that they had never seen a green S before. (maybe it was my wizard's hat?)

Yes - we pre-drove the Portland to Grants Pass leg coming down, and will do the Grants Pass to Oregon Caves to Redwoods to Portland leg on the way back home next weekend.
